What are Vitamin K Supplements?

Vitamin K is a fat soluble vitamin and is essentially used to normalize the blood functioning. Inadequate presence of Vitamin K leads to inefficient clotting of blood. This vitamin exists in three main forms, Vitamin K1, K2 and K3. Vitamin K1 can be found in a variety of food products.

They are found in significant percentages in most of the green leafy vegetables like spinach, Brussels sprouts, turnip greens and cabbage. On the other hand, rich quantities of Vitamin K2 are found in fish meals and can be easily synthesized in the intestines through the beneficial bacteria in the body system. Vitamin K3, also known as menadione, is available in form of medicinal injections. Other rich sources of Vitamin K are alfalfa, soybeans, cheddar cheese, cauliflower, oats and much more.

All types of salads are known to be the best sources of feeding your body with this integral vitamin. However, the exact dietary requirement of this vitamin is yet unknown as our body system is itself known to be a good source of vitamin K. This integral supplement is basically produced by the beneficial bacteria accumulated around the intestines. Therefore, the intake of this vitamin is not much propagated by doctors as our body is self-capable of synthesizing it.
