Protein supplement during pregnancy

During pregnancy a female will need higher levels of proteins. The same is the case with females who feed their babies with breast milk. This protein helps in proper growth and development of the baby. A pregnant woman needs more protein because the placenta requires the same. Even amniotic tissues need proteins during pregnancy. During pregnancy the volume of blood in the female’s body will increase and thus this will help in circulation of proteins and vital nutrients and making it available for baby’s growth in the womb. It is best to have protein rich diet during pregnancy. However, if you can’t do that then you may use protein supplements. Protein rich diet and/protein supplements during pregnancy helps in development of brain of the baby as well as maintaining baby’s good health. Foods that are rich in protein include chicken, eggs, fish, legumes, nuts and dairy products. However, it would be apt to use fish oil supplements which are double distilled rather than fish diet during pregnancy. This is because dietary fish that you are getting could have been exposed to high mercury levels which are harmful for mother as well as fetal health.
