Magnesium supplement and high blood pressure

Magnesium is an essential mineral used for regulating the health of the entire body. It is counted one among the indisputable nutrients required for the efficient functioning of the body. Evidences have proven that this mineral plays an important role in maintaining a normal blood pressure. It is particularly recommended to those patients who have records of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disorders. Such patients are typically suggested a magnesium loaded diet which contains fibrous fruits and vegetables, whole grains, small amount of red meat. This diet would also contain other essential minerals like potassium and fibers which further aid in the absorption of nutrients in the ingested food.

It is important to learn that so far only magnesium rich diet has been tested for its effects on patients with high blood pressure. There are no studies or data to support if an oral dosage of a magnesium pill would show the same effects as observed in the mineral rich diet. It would be disastrous to conduct any sort of experiments with magnesium pills by a normal person, until the consent of a doctor. This is because the digestive enzymes in the body easily absorb and assimilate ingested food rich in magnesium. The body, may however, not be able to digest the pill form of this essential mineral.
